Energy infrastructure under attack in Ukraine
Ukraine's energy systems have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have caused blackouts in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were experienced blackouts and dealt with interruptions to drinking water, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a young boy was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to area administrators.

Russian forces has increased attacks on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"What is required is not window dressing but strong steps - from the US, European nations and the major economies - in providing air defence systems and implementing restrictions," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such assaults as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A series of attacks damaged power facilities and civilian homes in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Authorities told reporters that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were bracing for more assaults.
